The year 2014 is going to be a killer year for small businesses and social media. In 2014 some of the trends of 2013 will continue to rise in 2014 while others will fail. But it all depends on how you communicate with your audience, how you share the content, how you leverage relationships. Content has always been a king and will remain the king.
Here are the trends for 2014 and how you can get ready:
Mobile is going to be the main stream: Every website must be optimized for mobile. This means that having a responsive website design and thinking about how people are interacting with you via their mobile devices should be your top priority. It is the time to switch to the mobile site, if you have not yet and think about the ways how you can get in front of your customers via their phones. This may include SMS, mobile applications and emails that are viewed on your cellular phone.
Blogging will remain the number 1 way to generate new business: Creating a high quality and useful content and driving traffic back to your site will remain the number 1 way to generate new leads. So, if you don't have a blog yet, then create one.
Spammy content will be eliminated forever: We have already seen it happen on Google and now it is also happening on FaceBook. Spammy content will not take you anywhere and some of the big sites are cracking down. Therefore, think about creating a valuable content that resonates with your customers.
Niche sites will make an impact: The sites like Facebook, Google+, Twitter make it difficult to get found organically, so niche sites are going to be even more valuable to get in front of your customers.
Google+ will grow faster: With the search benefits from Google and increased user base, it is possible that many users will be making the move from Facebook to G+. It is good to remain one step ahead. It is going to launch promoted posts that will get your content to a wider audience. So, get on Google Plus as soon as possible.
Image centric sites will continue to ascend: The sites like Pinterest, Instagram and many more sites will come in 2014 that will be based on images. Since text is not dead, you have to think of the ways of incorporating images into your strategy that will match your written content.
Video usage will increase: Video will continue to create a meaningful relationship between consumer and business. Whether it is an ad or an educational video, consumers will look to the video content so as to learn about your business
Sharing will be important: Social media sharing will get build up and everyone will be doing it. It presents the challenges to get found. The tactic here is to communicate with your customer directly and to be found. Especially, Google+ is going to help you in attaining higher search rankings.
The year 2014 is going to be an exciting year. Ensure that you stay on the top of all these Online Marketing and Social Media Trends as much as possible.
